Privacy Policy

Your thoughts belong to you. This Privacy Policy explains what information Uttr collects, how it is used, where it is processed, and the choices available to you.

1. Information we collect

Uttr collects information needed to provide the current Voice Journaling release, including:

• Account information such as name, email address, Firebase user ID, sign-in provider, authentication metadata, basic sign-in profile information, and local account profile metadata.
• Voice recordings initiated by you.
• Transcripts, prompts, journal text, summaries, structured notes, generated notes, chat messages, embeddings, and AI outputs when you use features that process or organize your thoughts.
• Subscription and purchase history, purchase tokens, entitlement status, ownership-conflict information, and billing account identifiers needed to verify Google Play purchases.
• Usage information and app interactions, such as app opens, recording, transcription, billing, settings, and feature events.
• Crash reports, diagnostics, performance information, request metadata, usage counters, and error information.
• Device or other identifiers used for authentication, security, analytics, billing, App Check, rate limiting, fraud prevention, and reliability. This may include generated device IDs, app instance IDs, Firebase Installations IDs, App Check signals, and other operational device or app identifiers where provided by Google/Firebase services.
• Approximate location that may be derived by Google/Firebase analytics and security services from network or device signals.
• Account deletion request information, including email address and any optional name or reason you provide.

Uttr does not directly collect payment-card or bank-account details. Payments and payment instruments are handled by Google Play.

2. Recording and voice processing

Recording begins after you initiate it from Uttr controls, such as the Voice Journal screen, voice input controls, or the current Voice Journal bubble.

Audio may be securely transmitted to Uttr's backend and third-party AI service providers for transcription and requested AI processing. Transcripts, prompts, journal context, and generated text may also be securely transmitted when needed to structure your thoughts, answer your requests, or create related AI-powered outputs.

Voice journals, transcripts, generated notes, and audio chunks may be stored locally on your device. Uttr's backend processes this content to provide the service and is not the primary journal store. It may retain operational metadata such as usage, request, diagnostic, billing, security, and error records.

Third-party AI service providers may process content that Uttr sends to them. Their handling of that content is governed by their terms, policies, and the active account settings or agreements used by Uttr.

3. How information is used

Uttr uses information to:

• Create accounts, authenticate users, and sync identity.
• Transcribe voice recordings.
• Structure, organize, and retrieve thoughts.
• Provide AI-powered features requested by you.
• Verify subscriptions, manage entitlements, acknowledge purchases, and resolve billing ownership conflicts.
• Protect the service through security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, App Check, and rate limiting.
• Understand app reliability, diagnose crashes, analyze feature usage, and improve the product.
• Provide customer support and process account deletion requests.

We do not sell personal data.

Uttr does not send private journal content to advertising services or use it to build advertising profiles.

4. Local and server-side storage

Voice journals, transcripts, and generated notes are primarily stored on your device. Certain information is transmitted securely to provide authentication, transcription, AI processing, billing, security, analytics, and account functionality.

Stored locally on your device

• Voice journal sessions, transcripts, structured notes, summaries, generated notes, reminders, lookbacks, timeline content, workboard items, personal vocabulary, and chat history.
• Local audio chunks and related recording metadata used for Voice Journal processing and review.
• Local embeddings and chat memory used for retrieval and lookback features.
• Local account profile metadata and encrypted authentication state used to keep you signed in.

Stored or retained server-side

• Firebase Authentication records and account identity metadata.
• Subscription, entitlement, billing ownership, purchase-token hash or encrypted purchase-token records, and Google Play subscription state.
• Usage quota, request ledger, operation status, rate-limit, device-hash, diagnostic, security, and error metadata.
• Account deletion request records.

Processed by third parties

• Google and Firebase services process information for sign-in, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, App Check, device/app identifiers, billing, hosting, logging, and backend storage.
• Third-party AI service providers process audio, transcripts, prompts, journal context, chat content, and text inputs when Uttr sends them for transcription, AI text processing, embeddings, and related AI-powered features.
• Payment providers such as Google Play process purchase and subscription information.

5. Third-party services

Uttr uses third-party services where needed to operate the app and backend:

• Authentication providers, including Google Sign-In, Credential Manager, and Firebase Authentication, for sign-in, account selection, and identity.
• Firebase Analytics, for product analytics and app interaction measurement.
• Firebase Crashlytics, for crash reports and reliability diagnostics.
• Firebase App Check and Firebase Installations, for app authenticity, abuse prevention, and related identifiers.
• Payment providers, including Google Play Billing, for subscriptions, purchases, purchase history, entitlement checks, and subscription management.
• Third-party cloud infrastructure providers, including Google Cloud Run, Firestore, and Cloud Logging, for backend hosting, server-side records, request processing, security logs, and diagnostics.
• Third-party AI service providers, for transcription, AI text processing, embeddings, and related AI-powered features.

These third-party services process information according to their own terms, policies, and the active account settings or agreements used by Uttr. For retention, training, and processing details, review the current policies and agreements applicable to Uttr's accounts.

6. Data sharing

Information may be provided to third-party services where needed to operate Uttr, including authentication, transcription, AI processing, billing, analytics, crash reporting, security, hosting, logging, and account deletion processing.

Personal data may also be disclosed where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect users, Uttr, the service, or others.

We do not sell personal data.

7. Security

Data transmitted off-device is encrypted in transit. Uttr uses reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect information.

No security method is guaranteed to be completely secure. Uttr does not claim end-to-end encryption for Voice Journal processing.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service.

• Account records are retained while your account is active and as needed to process verified deletion requests.
• Subscription, entitlement, billing ownership, purchase, and payment-related records may be retained where needed for entitlement management, legal compliance, accounting, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and security.
• Usage, diagnostic, rate-limit, security, crash, analytics, and backend log records may be retained according to Uttr's operational needs and the retention settings of the relevant providers.
• Account deletion request records may be retained to document and process the request.
• Voice journals, local recordings, transcripts, notes, and related local data remain on your device until you delete them, clear app storage, or uninstall Uttr.
• Third-party AI service providers may retain or process requests according to their own terms, policies, and the active account settings or agreements used by Uttr.

9. Account and data deletion

You can request account deletion at https://uttrapp.com/delete-account.

Uttr reviews deletion requests manually and may contact you to verify ownership before processing a request. When we process a verified deletion request, Uttr aims to complete account deletion within 30 days unless a longer period is legally required.

When completed, a verified server-side deletion request removes the Uttr account and associated server-side account data, subject to the retention described in this policy. Data already stored locally on your device is not automatically erased by a server-side account deletion request.

To remove local journal data for the current signed-in account from a device while keeping your account, use Delete Local Journals in Settings. This does not remove local journal data belonging to other Uttr accounts on the same device. To remove all app data from the device, clear Uttr's app storage in Android settings or uninstall the app.

Deleting your Uttr account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. Subscriptions must be managed or cancelled through Google Play.

10. User choices and rights

You may:

• Request access to your account information.
• Request correction where applicable.
• Request deletion of your account and associated server-side account data.
• Stop recording by not initiating a recording or by stopping an active recording.
• Manage Android permissions through your device settings.
• Manage subscriptions through Google Play.
• Contact Uttr with privacy questions.

Additional privacy rights may apply depending on your location.

11. Children

Uttr is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed to children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will revise the effective date above.
